Basic Rider Course
The Basic Rider Course (BRC) is a mandatory training program for motorcycle riders in Florida, required to obtain a motorcycle endorsement on their driver's license. The course teaches essential mental and physical skills needed for safe riding, including balance, braking, shifting, accelerating, cornering, and low-speed maneuvers. To participate in the BRC, riders must possess either a driver's license or learner's permit, be able to balance and ride a bicycle, and have the required gear. The course is offered Monday through Tuesday, with each day running from 8:00am to 2:00pm. Students will complete both classroom instruction and on-bike training. The MSF Basic Rider Course includes online classroom instruction that covers different types of motorcycles, layout and operation of basic controls, and how to become a safer rider. This must be completed before attending the in-person training at the range. The course concludes with a classroom knowledge test and hands-on riding skill evaluation. Students will also complete 14 hands-on riding exercises. Taking a Basic Rider Course has several benefits, including having most states waive the riding portion of your motorcycle endorsement test if you've successfully completed the course.
