The State of Nevada requires new riders to complete a basic motorcycle rider course before they anyone can obtain a motorcycle license.

Chester’s Reno Harley-Davidson is an authorized instructor for the Rider’s Edge new Rider Course and Skilled Rider Course. These courses aim to help new riders learn how to ride a motorcycle and novice riders to enhance their riding skills. All courses are approved by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Completion of the course may help waive your on-cycle and written test for motorcycle licensing. According to their official website, the Nevada Rider Motorcycle Safety program was established in 1991 by the Nevada Legislature and placed within the Department of Public Safety and the Nevada Office of traffic Safety. The purpose of this program is to conduct quality rider training throughout Nevada and educate the other users of the road to the unique aspects of motorcycles and motorcycling. Motorcycle courses are offered state wide with training sites located in Reno, Carson City, Elko, Hawthorne, Winnemucca, Ely, Empire, NAS Fallon, Tonopah, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson. The Silver State motorcycle Academy is located in Fernley Nevada and held training classes in Silver springs at the Silver Springs Airport. They offer both Basic Rider Course and Experienced Rider Course that teach riders how to make motorcycling safe and enjoyable. All training coaches are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.
