TEAM Oregon (http://team-oregon.org/)
TEAM Oregon is the official resource for motorcycle safety, strategy and skill development for riders of all skill levels. They offer training courses for beginning, intermediate and experienced motorcycle riders. Training is offered through community colleges and in a number of locations statewide that are served by the TEAM Oregon mobile training program.
According to their official website, TEAM Oregon is an outreach program of the Oregon State University, College of Public Health and Human Sciences. The OSU partnered with the Oregon Department of Transportation, Transportation Safety Division which provides direction, funding and support for the program and activities. The funding used by TEAM Oregon comes from students’ tuition, motorcycle endorsements and renewal fees and grants.
Basic Rider Training
The TEAM Oregon Basic Rider Training course was designed for new riders who want to learn the basic of motorcycle riding. It is a 15-hour course for novice riders and takes place over 3 days and provides seven hours of classroom instruction and eight hours of on-cycle instruction. The BRT provides the mandatory training requirements for riders who want to get a motorcycle license. Passing this program will waive the state knowledge and on-cycle skill test for students.
Intermediate Rider Training
This is an eight-hour motorcycle training course for riders who are familiar with motorcycle controls and have some on-bike experience. This is a one-day course that will help build the fundamental street-riding skills and strategies of riders. The course includes instruction on risk management, protective gear, riding strategy, roadway management, impairment and special riding situations.
Advanced Rider Training
This is a one-day motorcycle training course that provides riders a chance to build skills on an enclosed track while getting feedback from expert instructors. The Advanced Rider Training is designed for motorcycle riders who have at least 12,000 miles of current, on-street riding experience.
