Kentucky Motorcycle License

In the state of Kentucky, a person who wanted to drive a motorcycle or moped must have to get a valid motorcycle driver’s license. All motorcycle and moped licenses and endorsements are issued at any circuit clerk’s office in Kentucky. However, you must have to apply first for a motorcycle permit before you can apply for a motorcycle driver’s license.

Basic Requirements for the License

Applicants of motorcycle permit must be at least 18 years of age or must have a valid operator’s license. On the other hand, applicants who are under 18 years old must have a parent or guardian who will be willing to assume responsibility and sign the application for license. Requirements for moped license:

• Applicants must be at least 16 years old and have already a driver’s permit.
• Applicants below 18 years old must have a parent or legal guardian.
• Applicants who do not have a driver license must complete the driver license and application; pass the general knowledge and vision test.

Note: If you successfully completed all the requirements, then you will be given a moped license.

In order to get a motorcycle driver’s license or permit, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. A parent or a guardian is important for applicants who are under 18 years old. Also, you have to pay the motorcycle driver’s license which cost $30 and a motorcycle only license which is $24. • Complete the application form and pass it in person to the DMV office. No photocopies are allowed.
• Have your picture taken and give a thumb print.
• Pay the application fee.
• Pass the vision test.
• Pass the written examination.

• No driving on the highway.
• No driving during the evening.
• Do not ride with any passengers.

Once you have an instruction permit then apply for a motorcycle permit. This will be the last step to get a motorcycle driver’s license. To obtain a motorcycle permit, applicants who are under the age of 21 must book an appointment for a road test at the DMV office. If you pass the test, you will be issued a motorcycle driver’s license or an endorsement on your existing driver’s license.

The Motorcycle Safety Training Course

However, applicants who are under the age of 18 are required to complete a motorcycle safety program or course. The Kentucky Motorcycle Program offers rider courses for individuals who wanted to learn how to drive a motorcycle. This is developed approved by the Motorcycle safety Foundation. Courses includes a 16 to 18 hours of basic skills class for new riders while the experienced rider courses is for more experienced riders who wanted to improve their skills. Your skills test may be waived if you can finish the Motorcycle Safety Education but all motorcyclists must keep their permit for one month before they can be issued a motorcycle driver’s license.
