Maine Motorcycle Driver’s License
To drive a motorcycle in Maine, you need to get a specific motorcycle learner’s permit or motorcycle-endorsed driver’s license from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Basic Requirements for the License
Applicants 18 years old and over must complete the following requirements:
Fill up the application form and submit the original copy at any BMV office.

Pay your fee. You can submit a $10.00 check or money order payable to the Secretary of State.
Aside from the requirements given above, new applicants between 15 and 18 must have completed an approved driver’s education course and must successfully complete a road test. Applicants who are under 21 years old must complete 35 hours of practice driving which include 5 hours of night driving. However, you must have held an instruction permit for at least six months and must be supervised by another person who is at least 20 years old and has held a motorcycle driver’s license for at least two years. Once you feel comfortable operating a motorcycle, the next step is to get the road test.
The first license issued to new applicants under the age of 21 is provisional for a period of two years. If a license is issued to a person under the age of 18, he will receive an intermediate license which will not allow him to:
Carry passengers except immediate family unless accompanied by a licensed driver who is 20 years old and has a motorcycle driver’s license for two years and must occupy the seat beside the driver.
Operates a motor vehicle from 12 a.m to 5 a.m.

Moreover, a person you must hold an intermediate motorcycle driver’s license for 180 days from the date the license was issued before he can receive the unrestricted license.
