An off-duty reserve police officer of New Baltimore was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a car Sunday night in Chesterfield Township.

Patrick William Wisniewski, 33 years old, had been a reserve officer for the New Baltimore Police Department for two years. He had just left his shift at Selfridge Air Base, where he served as a military police officer, and was on his way home about 9:30 p.m. when the crash occurred.

The car’s driver, a 64-year-old Chesterfield Township man, was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. Police did not release his name, but said he was driving on a suspended license. They anticipate seeking criminal charges.

Donations to the Wisniewski family can be made to an account set up through Michigan’s Thin Blue Line at PNC Bank.
