by As reported by Edmond Sun, a civilian motorcycle safety course was taught by The Edmond Police officers and each year they were able to train about 240 riders.
In an effort to make city streets and highways safer for all, the Edmond Police Department has initiated and implemented a motorcycle safety course designed to teach the motorcycle operator how to survive in traffic. The course curriculum was developed by the EPD and approved by the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office and the Department of Public Safety.
Edmond Police Sgt. Acey Hopper, who coordinates the program, said the lesson plan for this six-hour course is based upon skills utilized by the motorcycle unit and instructed by a minimum of six Edmond motorcycle officers depending on class size.
“Each year, the curriculum is the same and is challenging to all skill levels,” Hopper said.
